What is Social Enterprises?

Social Enterprises is a social business (registered as a 501(c)3 public charity nonprofit corporation) based on the framework developed by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank and 2006 Nobel Prize recipient. A social business is an enterprise that is based on business and market principles, but is dedicated to using its resources to helping disadvantaged populations and society in general.

Social Enterprises develops business ventures and partners with other businesses that leverage technology and the power of community to provide value to customers, our beneficiaries, and society in general. The Social Enterprises business “hub” will generate capital and other resources that will be used specifically for the purpose of funding programs, organizations, and other efforts directed at helping the youth and alumni of the foster care system in the United States.

    Hi Shelby,

Thank you for your comment! I’m so excited that you found my site and am very glad you asked how you can share your story! I started with sharing my story because that’s the only one I’ve got. :) However, it is definitely my hope that more youth and alumni of foster care will share theirs as well. If you’re inspired by what it is that we’re doing, I’d absolutely like to invite you to jump in and share your story also. We’ve got several ways to do that, including our new initiative called Foster Success, but I’ll reach out to you directly so we can explore which way(s) work best for you. Thanks so much!

Daniel, Shelby Tripp here! I would like to re write my story and submit it again. I have grown as a writer since I wrote the first blog and I have also grown a lot as a person and I feel that it is necessary to go more in depth and have a more clear understanding behind my story. So I would ask that you remove the old one, and then
I will re write my work and submit it to you, thank you.

Socialent, just found this site, I had a hunch you were an amazing man, you’re story is inspirational! What courage you have, thank you for sharing it and just look at you fly!

I am personally inviting your org to our growing community of nonprofits from arould the world, where we meet virtually each week, connect and collaborate.

Managed by http://www.techsoup.org, who provide us with free virtual office space in Second Life. All nonprofits should know about TechSoup, this is just one of their services, they’re there for us. I don’t work for them just love them.

This is a wonderful nonprofit idea, and I know one day will expand beyond the United States, now won’t that be something, a global voice for like-minded nonprofits.
